This was a very special, but also slightly nerve wrecking wedding for me. Lu-zanne and I met back when I still had a blog following the Cape Town adventures of Curvy girls. She was my very first model for an article and also contributed some articles to my blog. It was through her I was then acquainted with fellow photographer turned one of my best friends Yolande Marx, who also happened to be the one of the ‘bridespersons’ on Lu-zanne and Ockert’s wedding. (See why it was nerve wrecking too?)
Lu-zanne and Ockert had been very sweet, they did not want Yolande to be spending the entire day behind a camera so I was asked to help with documenting their big day.
I remember during our consultation Lu-zanne was holding thumbs for heavy rains and clouds on their day, so when it started looking like a bright and sunny day we all started feeling a slight bit despondent. Low and behold, during their couple shoot a massive rain cloud opened up and we were all drenched from head to toe. I will look back on that day as one of my fondest photography memories. We were running as fast as our feet could carry us, yet in the midst of the chaos I saw Yolande running ahead of my beautiful couple and i couldn’t help but capture that perfect quiet (yet chaotic moment)
I adore you guys Lu-zanne, thank you for making your wedding such a pleasure to photograph and also thank you to my second shooter Lauren Pretorius for being so on the ball that day
I hope you enjoy some of the highlights below
